Turner Sports and Wells Fargo in place for inaugural benefit
(PHOENIX, Ariz.) - Turner Sports and Wells Fargo have partnered mightily with Kyle Petty on the race track, and now they'll match up with the veteran driver off the track as well – on the links of sunny Arizona. Kyle Petty's Victory Invitational Golf Tournament announced Turner Sports and Wells Fargo today as Victory-level sponsors for Petty’s NASCAR-themed golf benefit scheduled to take place in the Greater Phoenix area on Thursday, February 28, 2008. The Victory-level sponsorship will lend naming rights to Turner Sports for the pre-tournament player breakfast, and naming rights to Wells Fargo for the post-tournament awards luncheon: the Victory Lane Luncheon Sponsored by Wells Fargo. Turner Sports is a fitting partner to Kyle Petty’s Victory Invitational, as Turner Sports entity TNT will broadcast six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races during the middle of the 2008 season. As he did in 2007, Petty will move from the seat of the No. 45 Dodge to that of the broadcast booth for five of those races, and he will be on air from his car for the sixth as an in-race reporter. In addition, Turner Sports Interactive is the exclusive producer of NASCAR.com, further displaying the company’s strong racing roots. "Turner Sports’ long-standing relationship with Kyle Petty and Petty Enterprises has extended beyond the track for many years," said Turner Sports Senior Vice President and Executive Producer Jeff Behnke. “We are proud to be aligned with Kyle and lend our support to his upcoming Victory Invitational, benefiting the Victory Junction Gang Camp and ASU’s College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation.” Wells Fargo and Kyle Petty’s Victory Invitational make a natural pair, as in 2008, Wells Fargo will be the primary sponsor of Petty’s No. 45 Dodge in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. The continued sponsorship will extend a partnership between the company and Petty Enterprises that dates back to 2003. “We are happy to be aligned with Kyle Petty’s Victory Invitational,” said Michael Lepore, Executive Vice President of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. “Wells Fargo has been a huge supporter of Kyle’s efforts both on the track and off of the track and we are excited to be involved with this cornerstone event for the Victory Junction Gang Camp and ASU’s College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation. The tournament benefits two great causes and we are very pleased with our involvement.” The focus of Kyle Petty’s Victory Invitational Celebrity Golf Tournament is to create a charitable partnership to raise funds for the Victory Junction Gang Camp and the Arizona State University College of Nursing & Healthcare Innovation. By joining forces, both organizations can leverage their strengths by making a better tomorrow for children stricken with serious illness. Proceeds from the tournament and surrounding events will help support ongoing efforts to improve the quality of life for children diagnosed with life-threatening illnesses, support for their families, and contribute to the ongoing training for the professionals who treat them. It’s a commitment to health, dreams, and education.
