Fans Invited to Celebrate NASCAR Day at PIR on Friday, May 16

Ticket discounts, commemorative pins to be available
To celebrate the fifth annual NASCAR Day in support of The NASCAR Foundation, and to observe the 60th Anniversary of NASCAR, Phoenix International Raceway will open its ticket office doors to fans on Friday, May 16 for a special promotion to mark the milestone events. Beginning at 8 a.m. at the PIR Ticket Office, the first 60 NASCAR fans who make an order - in person – for tickets to the Lower Bobby Allison Grandstands to the Sunday, November 9 Checker Auto Parts 500 Presented by Pennzoil NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race will receive a special discount. Normally priced at $82, the special NASCAR Day tickets will be on sale for just $60 – a markdown of over 25%. Each of the first 60 on-site purchasers will also receive one special NASCAR Day pin for free. Every non-promotional grandstand ticket order made on site for the Checker Auto Parts 500 throughout NASCAR Day at PIR will also earn ticket buyers one complimentary NASCAR Day pin each. PIR will donate $5 to The NASCAR Foundation for each pin given away throughout the entire day. Those who are not buying tickets but wish to obtain a commemorative NASCAR Day pin or simply make a donation to The NASCAR Foundation may do so by visiting www.nascar.com/nascarday on the Web. The PIR Ticket Office is located at 125 S. Avondale Blvd. in Avondale, just south of I-10 at Exit 131.     Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stars will appear at Phoenix Raceway for the first time in 2017 when the track hosts an open test session on Tuesday, Jan. 31. Phoenix Raceway will open its gates to fans from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with general seating in the Bobby Allison Grandstand. Free parking is available and fans are asked to make a $5 donation to Phoenix Raceway Charities for admission.

    WILD FINISH GIVES LOGANO CAN-AM 500, SPOT IN NASCAR CHAMPIONSHIP 4

    Joey Logano needed a good finish to advance to the championship finale of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series next weekend. The semi-final race was extended by 12 laps due to two late collisions that significantly effected both the race and the championship battle. Logano got the best finish possible at Sunday's Can-Am 500, grabbing the lead on a late restart and never looking back.

    KYLE BUSCH BECOMES FIRST DRIVER TO WIN 10 RACES IN ONE DIVISION AT PIR

    Another NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Phoenix International Raceway, another win for Kyle Busch. The driver of the No. 18 NOS Energy Toyota dominated yet again in Saturday's Ticket Galaxy 200 for his 10th win at PIR, a track record for a single series. Busch led 190 of 200 laps, the fourth-consecutive XFINITY race at Phoenix where he has led at least 175 of the 200 laps. But even though he lost the lead on the final restart to Justin Allgaier, Busch wasn't worried about the outcome.

    DC SOLAR SIGNS ON AS TITLE SPONSOR OF SPRING NASCAR XFINITY SERIES RACE AT PHOENIX RACEWAY

    Phoenix International Raceway President Bryan R. Sperber announced today that DC Solar has been named the title sponsor of the track’s spring NASCAR XFINITY Series races in 2017 and 2018. The DC Solar 200 for the upcoming NASCAR season will take place on Saturday, March 18.
