Hornaday On the Rise in Craftsman Truck Series

Fans encouraged to join Hornaday's title pursuit with special VFW ticket package
Defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday Jr. has come on strong in recent weeks, and he’s making his move just in time for the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. Along with chasing his fourth series championship at PIR on Friday, November 7, Hornaday will also take part in a special partnership between PIR, Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). In just the last two events on the Truck Series calendar - at Gateway and New Hampshire - Hornaday has driven to a pair of victories, giving him a series-leading five for 2008. His 10 top-5 and 13 top-10 finishes on the year rank him among the top three in each category. With the recent wins, what was a lead of 119 points over Hornaday and the field for Johnny Benson after a Wednesday night showdown at Bristol has been trimmed to an advantage of just 74. Seven races remain on the schedule, so the title is still very well up for grabs. When Hornaday arrives at PIR to race just before Veterans Day, he’ll do so behind a special scheme to honor current and veteran armed forces personnel. His No. 33 Chevrolet will be outfitted in a unique red, white, and blue scheme to pay tribute to members of the VFW. To celebrate Hornaday and KHI’s partnership with PIR and the VFW, PIR is offering a special ticket package for the Lucas Oil 150. For $95, ticket purchasers will receive one (1) grandstand ticket to the race, admission to Corporate Village (including food and beverage), and a Craftsman Truck Series pre-race pit pass to be used that day. Ticket package purchasers will also be treated to a question-and-answer session with KHI Nationwide Series driver Cale Gale. PIR will celebrate America’s veterans during pre-race festivities just prior to the race, and there will also be a special acknowledgement of the veterans during Sunday's Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Presented by Pennzoil - the semi-final race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.     Joey Logano needed a good finish to advance to the championship finale of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series next weekend. The semi-final race was extended by 12 laps due to two late collisions that significantly effected both the race and the championship battle. Logano got the best finish possible at Sunday's Can-Am 500, grabbing the lead on a late restart and never looking back.

    KYLE BUSCH BECOMES FIRST DRIVER TO WIN 10 RACES IN ONE DIVISION AT PIR

    Another NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Phoenix International Raceway, another win for Kyle Busch. The driver of the No. 18 NOS Energy Toyota dominated yet again in Saturday's Ticket Galaxy 200 for his 10th win at PIR, a track record for a single series. Busch led 190 of 200 laps, the fourth-consecutive XFINITY race at Phoenix where he has led at least 175 of the 200 laps. But even though he lost the lead on the final restart to Justin Allgaier, Busch wasn't worried about the outcome.

    DC SOLAR SIGNS ON AS TITLE SPONSOR OF SPRING NASCAR XFINITY SERIES RACE AT PHOENIX RACEWAY

    Phoenix International Raceway President Bryan R. Sperber announced today that DC Solar has been named the title sponsor of the track’s spring NASCAR XFINITY Series races in 2017 and 2018. The DC Solar 200 for the upcoming NASCAR season will take place on Saturday, March 18.

    Friday's Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway was setting up to be a dominant win for 18-year-old William Byron. But with 10 laps to go, both the race win and the hope of a NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship went up in smoke for the driver of the No. 9 Liberty University Toyota Tundra.

    Phoenix Raceway has announced the operating schedule for its Park ‘N Ride program – encouraging race fans to take advantage of the convenient shuttle service when traveling to and from the Can-Am 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, Nov. 13.
