Fans encouraged to join Hornaday's title pursuit with special VFW ticket package
Defending NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion Ron Hornaday Jr. has come on strong in recent weeks, and he’s making his move just in time for the Lucas Oil 150 at Phoenix International Raceway. Along with chasing his fourth series championship at PIR on Friday, November 7, Hornaday will also take part in a special partnership between PIR, Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI), and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). In just the last two events on the Truck Series calendar - at Gateway and New Hampshire - Hornaday has driven to a pair of victories, giving him a series-leading five for 2008. His 10 top-5 and 13 top-10 finishes on the year rank him among the top three in each category. With the recent wins, what was a lead of 119 points over Hornaday and the field for Johnny Benson after a Wednesday night showdown at Bristol has been trimmed to an advantage of just 74. Seven races remain on the schedule, so the title is still very well up for grabs. When Hornaday arrives at PIR to race just before Veterans Day, he’ll do so behind a special scheme to honor current and veteran armed forces personnel. His No. 33 Chevrolet will be outfitted in a unique red, white, and blue scheme to pay tribute to members of the VFW. To celebrate Hornaday and KHI’s partnership with PIR and the VFW, PIR is offering a special ticket package for the Lucas Oil 150. For $95, ticket purchasers will receive one (1) grandstand ticket to the race, admission to Corporate Village (including food and beverage), and a Craftsman Truck Series pre-race pit pass to be used that day. Ticket package purchasers will also be treated to a question-and-answer session with KHI Nationwide Series driver Cale Gale. PIR will celebrate America’s veterans during pre-race festivities just prior to the race, and there will also be a special acknowledgement of the veterans during Sunday's Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Presented by Pennzoil - the semi-final race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. Information on the VFW celebration ticket package can be found here inside the "VFW Racing Package" section, or over the phone at 1-866-408-RACE (7223). Additional information on the partnership between PIR, KHI, and the VFW can be found here.
