Phoenix’s McDowell and PIR Team Up
Track to sponsor hometown driver’s No. 47 car on Friday night
Hey, that’s a familiar logo! Phoenix International Raceway will sponsor NASCAR Nationwide Series driver and Phoenix native Michael McDowell for the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 on April 17. The hometown driver’s No. 47 car will feature a number of items unique to PIR’s “Semifinal Week” in the Chase for the Sprint Cup - which is centered around the November 15 Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 - for the nationally-televised race, which starts at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2. “It’s always great to come back to Phoenix - all of my family and my wife’s family are still here,” McDowell said. “To have Phoenix International Raceway on board with the car makes this trip home even more special. It really means a lot to me to have the hometown support.” Driving for JTG-Daugherty Racing, McDowell currently sits 13th in the Nationwide Series point standings following a 15th-place finish at Nashville. He led his first laps in series competition at Nashville. “We are incredibly proud of Michael as a driver from the Phoenix area and as a great young man,” said Phoenix International Raceway president Bryan R. Sperber. “We are pleased and excited to support him in his effort to capture the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 in front of the hometown fans.” McDowell’s No. 47 car will feature the following Phoenix International Raceway items on its paint scheme: ZOOMTOWN, U.S.A.™
Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has officially declared Phoenix International Raceway as “ZOOMTOWN, U.S.A.™” for the NASCAR event weekend of April 16-18. PIR will again become “ZOOMTOWN, U.S.A.™” November 12-15 when the raceway hosts USAC, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR Nationwide Series, and NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events on successive days. The Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Presented by Pennzoil on November 15 is the Semifinal Race in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup. $25 Tickets
With sights firmly set on giving race fans the "best value in NASCAR," Phoenix International Raceway is offering a $25 Sprint Cup Series reserved seat to the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Presented by Pennzoil - the Semifinal Race in NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup. Kyle Petty’s Victory Invitational
Kyle Petty's Victory Invitational Celebrity Golf Tournament will again steer NASCAR onto the golf links of Phoenix in 2009 to benefit charity - but with a twist. This year, Kyle Petty's Victory Invitational will take place as part of the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 week at PIR. After raising $335,000 for the two organizations through the inaugural event in the spring of 2008, Kyle Petty's Victory Invitational moves to the fall in 2009 and is scheduled to take place at Kierland Golf Club on Thursday, November 12. Offspeed
The motorsports and baseball worlds will again unite this fall in a three-way partnership to raise money and awareness for two major youth charities. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Clint Bowyer, Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher and 2006 National League Cy Young Award winner Brandon Webb, and Phoenix International Raceway president Bryan R. Sperber have announced plans for the second annual charity event, “Offspeed,” set to take place at PIR’s exclusive lounge, Octane, on Thursday, November 12. Octane
Race fans can enjoy VIP treatment in PIR's luxury lounge, Octane, with a full-service concierge anticipating patrons’ every need. Fans can choose from a fresh sushi bar and other high-end dining options, or gaze at mountain sunsets from a private veranda. Octane’s uniquely designed lounge was created to exceed all expectations and to keep fans right in the action - while setting them apart from the crowd. Trackside Club
If race fans want complete food and beverage service, free gifts, and great seats to see the action throughout each NASCAR weekend, the Trackside Club is the place to be. Located on the backstretch, Trackside Club guests enjoy an inclusive package that brings pit passes, VIP parking and shuttle service, unlimited food and beverage, NASCAR driver and personality appearances, a temperature-controlled setting, and a great view of the race with outdoor terraced seating. SPEED Cantina
SPEED Cantina features the best in food, drink, and NASCAR fun. From live music and entertainment, driver and NASCAR personality appearances, flat-screen televisions for race broadcasts, and a brand new menu featuring food items designed by SPEED’s television personalities, SPEED Cantina is the place for good times at Phoenix International Raceway. Crazy Jack’s Prickly Pear Margaritas
For more than a decade, the recipe for “Crazy” Jack’s “Almost World Famous” Prickly Pear Margarita seemed lost for good to the annals of race weekends gone by, but the refreshing taste concocted by a lovable NASCAR fan of the past is making a return to rejuvenate the taste buds of fans in attendance for the Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500. Tickets to see McDowell’s new No. 47 car in the Bashas’ Supermarkets 200 and all other events throughout the SUBWAY Fresh Fit 500™ weekend at Phoenix International Raceway are available at the newly-designed www.phoenixraceway.com or by calling 1-866-408-RACE (7223).
