The excitement found behind the steering wheel of a NASCAR Sprint Cup car may be a world away from the thrill discovered in the driver's seat of a classic Corvette, but time and time again, the two meet at Phoenix International Raceway in a marriage of speed, power, and pageantry. On April 10, Phoenix's Fast Glass Corvette Club will bring its Chevrolets to Phoenix International Raceway to participate in the pre-race ceremonies prior to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series SUBWAY Fresh Fit 600™. The many stars from the NA SCAR Sprint Cup Series - four-time champions Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon, defending race winner Mark Martin, and car lover Tony Stewart included - will ride with the Fast Glass Corvettes and cars of affiliate clubs for a parade lap around PIR's one-mile oval. This month, the club's members visited Phoenix International Raceway to present a ceremonial check valued at $1175 to the track's "Salute to Military Families" program. "Salute to Military Families" aims to thank United States military personnel for their service by welcoming them to a race weekend for the NASCAR experience. Given their sleek and colorful fleet of Chevrolets and a valuable assistance to the many military members who will be on hand for the SUBWAY Fresh Fit 600™ pre-race ceremonies, there's no question that the Fast Glass Corvette Club is a key player on race day. The Fast Glass Corvette Club can be found on the Web at www.fastglasscorvetteclub.com. Tickets for 2010 at Phoenix International Raceway can be purchased online at PhoenixRaceway.com or by calling 1-866-408-RACE (7223). The PIR Ticket Office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 125 S. Avondale Blvd., just south of I-10 at Exit 131 in Avondale.
