ISM Raceway announced today that it will host the Ultimate 5v5 Street Soccer Tournament on January 4, 2020. Organized by Ultimate 5v5 Soccer and Phoenix’s Madison Futbol Club, the one-day tournament will utilize ISM Raceway’s pit road for its futsal-style courts in 30×15 yard sections.
“Hosting a sporting event like the Ultimate 5v5 Soccer Tournament is an exciting opportunity to showcase our facility in a way we’ve never seen before,” said ISM Raceway President Julie Giese. “Since the completion of our $178 million modernization project in 2018, ISM Raceway continues to host a variety of events for the local community and this event further illustrates how our multi-purpose facility is a sports and entertainment destination.”
The Ultimate 5v5 Soccer Tournament will feature boys and girls age divisions from U7 to U18 as well as adult and over-30 divisions for men, women and coed teams. The futsal-style game will be played 4v4 plus goalkeepers (5v5) and will consist of two 13-minute halves. Each team will be allowed up to 11 players and will be guaranteed three bracket games with the opportunity to advance to the semifinals and finals.
Futsal is a variant of soccer played on a hard court and smaller pitch with five players on each team. The ball is smaller, harder and features less bounce than a traditional soccer ball, creating a competitive landscape favoring ball control and passing in small spaces.
“Together with ISM Raceway, we’ve created a fun experience for both the players and spectators,” said Jordan Arias, Tournament Director at Ultimate 5v5 Soccer. “It’s not every day you get the opportunity to play on pit road at a NASCAR track and this is more than just a tournament, as well. It’s an opportunity for teammates, friends and family to hangout and enjoy the beautiful game of soccer played within such a unique setting.”
Additionally, Ridgeline camping along the backstretch is available for both Friday, January 3 and Saturday, January 4 for teams attending the tournament. Advance reservations for camping are required through the ISM Raceway ticket office by calling 866-408-RACE (7223).
