BRANDON JONES WINS LS TRACTOR 200 NASCAR XFINITY SERIES RACE AT PHOENIX RACEWAY

Brandon Jones, driver of the No. 19 Toyota Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing, earned the win in Saturday afternoon’s LS Tractor 200 NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Phoenix Raceway. This is Jones’ second victory in the series and his first at Phoenix.

Jones took the lead over Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch with only 20 laps to go and never looked back. Busch, who led the most laps with 78, would end his day in third place behind Jones and Rookie of the Year contender Harrison Burton. Brad Keselowski and Justin Haley would complete the top-five.

“These (Busch & Keselowski) are two of arguably the best in the business,” Jones said. “We just had a car to beat ‘em today. These guys just did an incredible job. I told (crew chief) Jeff (Meendering) kind of early in the race, I’m like ‘Man, I’m just lacking track position. That’s the only thing I’m lacking.’ The pit crew did a heck of a job, and they said, ‘There you go. There’s your track position, and it paid off at the end.”

The LS Tractor 200 had seven cautions and 11 lead changes among seven different drivers. JR Motorsports swept the stages with Justin Allgaier winning the first stage and teammate Noah Gragson taking the green-and-white checkered in stage two.
